A Place to Dream Up Your Happiest Life
My Best Gentle Grief Advice: 5 Practices That Actually Helped Me Heal
Almost two and a half years ago now, my dad died. I've been really looking forward to writing this post because grief is such a universal human experience, and so tied to the love we have for people. But while universal, it's not often a casually discussed topic in American culture. Two and a half years into my grief journey, I have learned so much about love, myself, my past, and my relationships. I have experienced more brightness and intensity of emotion than I ever had in my adult life. To anyone grieving, I send so, so much love to you.
Hi! I’m Vic.
When I was younger, there were spaces on the internet that had this lovely, positive, innocent vibe. Places like XOvain and (some parts of) Tumblr. You just clicked around and learned cute fun things and saved pretty, largely meaningless photos. You could dream up who you were gonna be one day and take quizzes to see if you should get bangs or not.
Now I am older and miss the days when I got done with a stint in the computer room feeling better than when I went in. I want this space to capture the happiness and nostalgia of the slow bored days of childhood, where possibilities were endless and you believed your life could be anything you wanted. But for adults who are surfing the reality of life, its ups and its downs. This is a gentle internet space for them like the old days where you can just click around for a while and pick up some tips and tricks to make you feel better (and remember your life can be anything you want.)
Instead of eyeshadow maps, there will be easy tested mindfulness rituals, gratitude and romance practices, gentle life improvement tips, slow living book recommendations, and all things to feed your heart and soul.
Also pretty, largely meaningless photos. Love you!
